This conceptual typeface explores how the appearance of a solar eclipse, just before the moon covers the sun, can inform letterforms. Intersecting duplicate outlines create character shapes that make Eklips look almost like a stencil typeface. The surprising design gives rise to fun interactions with the reader. More than classic shadowed faces, the letters suggest ambiguous three-dimensional volumes. They leave the question unanswered if they are lit from the left or from the right. Or are we simply trying to read the words after too many beers?
