The Italian Plate super family is 341 weights and styles that extracts decades of Italian typeface design. The original No1 is based on a study of Italian number plates from the 60‘s, and inspired by the round and condensed profile and characteristic of that period. The elliptical upwards shape as basic design pattern, the equal stem width and the straight terminals across styles is what defines the Italian Plate super family. No1 Mono is a monospaced typeface with a lot of personality. The monospacing, where each glyph takes up the same horizontal space, is balanced by modifications made on selected glyphs. The letters 'W' and 'M' have been narrowed, whilst 'I', 'L' and the number '1' have been “widen” with serifs on the strokes. All together this accentuates the mechanical attributes in the typeface, turning up the nostalgic attitude and retro look. The complete super family goes from No1 to No7 in a mix of various type classes and widths – all in 10 weights with corresponding Italics and loaded with alternatives.
