The Italian Plate super family is 341 weights and styles that extracts decades of Italian typeface design. The original No1 is based on a study of Italian number plates from the 60‘s, and inspired by the round and condensed profile and characteristic of that period. The elliptical upwards shape as basic design pattern, the equal stem width and the straight terminals across styles is what defines the Italian Plate super family.
Everything is more expressive in No4 Display. The contrast between the thick and thin strokes is dramatic, and the triangular spurs become very prominent when balanced on top of the extremely thin strokes - as a beautifully formed as a stiletto heel. The drop shaped terminal endings on the lowercase letters, strenghten the sophisticated and soft texture when used for body text.
The complete super family goes from No1 to No7 in a mix of various type classes and widths – all in 10 weights with corresponding Italics and loaded with alternatives.
