The Italian Plate super family is 341 weights and styles that extracts decades of Italian typeface design. The original No1 is based on a study of Italian number plates from the 60‘s, and inspired by the round and condensed profile and characteristic of that period. The elliptical upwards shape as basic design pattern, the equal stem width and the straight terminals across styles is what defines the Italian Plate super family.
The amount of ligatures and alternates in No7 is what really spices up the attitude, and adds some speed to the Italian family. The opentype features offers a full plate of variations to be used for customizing the font, and for giving a wide selection of design options. It is a very geometric design merged with softly curved shoulders and oversized details, that together give it a sporty and snappy twist.
The complete super family goes from No1 to No7 in a mix of various type classes and widths – all in 10 weights with corresponding Italics and loaded with alternatives.
