Medien (as the name suggests) is designed to be used in any media. Its main structure is based on the grid created by
screen pixels. When used on printed matter, the reader will not notice that the typeface was built on a grid system. By looking
in detail one will recognize familiarities with typefaces like
‘Frutiger’ from Adrian Frutiger or ‘Syntax’ from Hans Eduard Meier. Medien, like ‘Frutiger’ and ‘Syntax’ are part of the humanistic sans serif typefaces. Medien is designed to be used for
all kinds of communications, with a focus on corporate communications, online applications, printed magazines and news-
papers. The Medien font family was designed by Anton Studer
as part of the Master thesis in the MAS Type Design at the
Zurich University of the Arts, ZHdK.
