Serial is a practical, straightforward grotesque with narrow character width and rigid geometric drawing. You can spot influences from modern geometrical typefaces: characters with diagonal lines include ink traps; diacritics and punctuation use oval, cubic dots. These features might look utilitarian. Here, they are an aesthetic choice as well as a practical one. Headlines or logotypes can benefit from available alternative characters. However, Serial distinguishes between a severe typeface and a more versatile one with or without them.
Serial is available in eight styles and their italics (Hair, Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold, Black). Stylistic sets have alternatives for a, g, l, r and R. Character sets include decorative elements and arrows.
